Upgrade Your Ford Super Duty Visibility for Towing, Hauling, and Everyday Driving
If you own a 1999-2016 Ford F250, F350, F450, or F550 Super Duty, upgrading from factory mirrors to aftermarket towing mirrors is one of the most practical modifications you can make.
Whether you frequently tow a fifth wheel, camper, trailer, or simply want better visibility around your truck, extended tow mirrors provide a wider field of view and a more aggressive Super Duty appearance.

Step-by-Step Ford Super Duty Tow Mirror Installation
Step 1: Disconnect Battery Power
Before working on electrical components:
- Turn off the ignition
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal
- Wait several minutes before removing connectors
This helps prevent electrical issues during installation.
Step 2: Remove Factory Mirror Cover and Door Panel
Open the door and locate the interior mirror mounting cover.
Using a trim removal tool:
- Carefully remove the plastic cover
- Avoid forcing the clips
- Keep all factory clips for reinstallation

And then disconnect the plugs behind the door panel.

Step 3: Disconnect Factory Mirror Harness
Locate the factory mirror connector.
Disconnect:
- Electrical plug
- Any retaining clips
Make sure the connector is fully released before pulling.
Step 4: Remove Factory Mirror
Remove the mounting nuts holding the mirror assembly.

Typically:
- Support the mirror with one hand
- Remove mounting hardware
- Carefully pull the mirror away from the door
Installation Tip: Ask someone to hold the mirror during removal to prevent accidental damage.
Step 5: Install Your New Tow Mirror
Position the new tow mirror:
- Align mounting studs
- Install factory nuts
- Tighten evenly
Do not overtighten. Overtightening can damage mounting points or create unnecessary stress on the mirror housing.

Step 6: Connect Wiring
Reconnect the mirror harness.
