Today we’re going to talk about pickup maintenance. Want to keep your tow mirrors looking sharp and performing their best? We’d like to share some tips on how to maintain and clean your tow mirrors.
Here are some simple maintenance tips:
1. Clean the mirror surface regularly
Use a mild cleaner or glass cleaner. Wipe with a soft microfiber cloth to avoid scratches. Avoid harsh chemicals, such as alcohol or strong acids/alkalis, which can damage the coating.
2. Wipe down the housing and Mirror arm
Use a damp cloth to remove dust, mud, and bug stains. For tougher spots, warm water mixed with a little dish soap works well.
3. Maintain the folding and extension mechanisms (if applicable)
Move the mirrors occasionally to keep the hinges smooth. If it feels stiff, apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to maintain the smoothness.
4. Protect heating and lighting functions
Use the heating feature in rain or snow to prevent fogging and freezing, but avoid running it for too long.
Check the lights regularly. If you notice moisture or dimming, inspect the seals as soon as possible.
5. Avoid high-pressure water
When washing the truck, avoid spraying high-pressure water directly at the mirror surface or gaps to prevent water from entering the electronics.
6. When not in use the tow mirrors plz fold it in the regula status.
And keep in mind to fold the mirrors back when possible to reduce the risk of damage.
PS: If the pickup will be parked under strong sunlight for long periods, consider using a cover for protection.
